Young Learner Summer School
This course is ideal for young people aged 10-16 who want to learn English and have a fun holiday too.
The Young Learner Summer School runs from 17th June to 26th August 2012. You can stay for one to eight weeks. Most students stay for two, three or four weeks. (You should arrive and leave on a Sunday). Confidence and motivation increases in a truly multinational atmosphere where you have to use English.
The Young Learner Summer School is a package course and includes full-board accommodation, tuition and all activities and excursions as stated in the programme with transport and entrances included. Please note that the price does not include airport transfer, insurance or pocket money for sweets, snacks and shopping.
Teaching Methods:
We use Communicative Language Teaching – you learn to use your English by using your English. There is a strong focus on speaking and listening, and you will spend a lot of time working together with your classmates. We also integrate grammar and vocabulary work with practice in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. We aim to build up our students’ confidence and fluency.
Teaching and Study Materials:
We lend you a course book (you don’t have to pay extra). Your teacher will use the course book as a basis for your course, but he or she will also bring in extra materials and you can use our study centre and language laboratory for self study.
Certificates and Reports:
At the end of your studies with LTC you will be given a certificate. You will also be given a report from your teacher.
Accommodation:
Young Learners’ can stay in residential accommodation (age 10-16) or homestay (age 13-17). In the residence, you are with a large group of friends and don’t have to spend time going to and from the college because everything is in one place. In homestay, you have more independence and you experience life with a British family.
Please note that for legal reasons, we cannot offer residential or homestay accommodation in one family for more than 28 days. A student who stays for longer must change their accommodation after 28 days.
Social Programme:
There are activities every afternoon and evening, plus a full-day excursion every Saturday and a half-day excursion every Wednesday afternoon. Many activities take place in the school grounds (we are situated in a 10-hectare park). You can download a copy of summer 2012′s programme here.
